Struggles
We all have them, don't we? Even those people who seem like they got it all, they don't. There is something they're struggling with. I have healthy children, a great marriage with a supportive husband, nice home, dependable transportation, etc. But I struggle too. I struggle with a weight problem. An eating problem. An "I DON'T WORK OUT" problem. I do good, for a few days. I eat healthy, I go to the gym, I walk w/ the kids and then BOOM it all goes down the drain with a few tray of brownies and a bag of chips (with dip!). How do I break this cycle? How do I stop this train? Because seriously, this train must be stopped. I can't keep going in this direction. I can't keep going up on the scale. The number must go down. So please, while I try and find my motivation, send me some tips. Tell me what you do to stay fit and healthy. What motivates you to get and keep your butt in gear. Do you set goals? Do you have partners that you make gym dates with? Where do you find your drive? Can I borrow it for awhile?

Some of the things that have worked for me...
I started logging my calories at a calorie-counting website. It can be annoying keeping track of every single thing you put in your mouth, but it's also incredibly eye-opening when you realize how big a serving actually is. The site I use lets you log whatever exercise you've done that day, which motivates me to work out and give myself a bigger calorie deficit.
Make food ahead of time and portion it out for each day during the week. I do this with the breakfasts and lunches that I bring to work.
Don't deny yourself everything you love - treat yourself to one meal a week (including desert) that you don't measure or log.
If you can, it's a great idea to try to figure out if you have trigger foods: is there anything that, once you've had one, you can't stop yourself from eating? I find it much easier to abstain from pasta than to just eat a little bit. (This is also true for almost any bread/cookie/cake-type thing.)
Eat a lot of veggies. You'll be amazed at how many veggies you can have for almost no calories.
I struggle SO much in this area, and I've lost almost 25 pounds this year. And you see how I eat when we get together! (Those are always the meals I don't count!)
Dessert! Dessert has two! Because more is better!
